YouPlay's FAQ on Prize Draws states, and I quote: "Remember, the more days you play, the more chances you have of winning".
Not so, apparently. I play all Crossword, Word Puzzles, and Trivia puzzles daily, and my Chances to Win are falling rapidly. In the past month or two, I estimate that my Chances to Win have fallen by 150 to 200 chances.
McTroy advises that this is "Tweaking", whereas monthly chances expire. One can only imagine that this apparently recently introduced regime (with no notice to Premium members, to my knowledge) is only aimed at Premium members with a large number of chances, and who thus stand to have more appearances in the cash prize draws.
So could YouPlay please advise how to arrest this decline in Chances to Win. Should I (a) cease signing in before playing, or (b) not click on to claim chances at the completion of each game, or (c) just stop playing on the site. I feel this is important enough to warrant serious attention and answers.

I'm in full agreement Stan. As you say we were not informed and the explanation from McTroy is far from satisfactory. It is implied that our chances are still there but have apparently been "put somewhere else" and only the chances for the current month are visible, that's how I read it anyway. We may both be incorrect (and therefore many other members may have other interpretations), so could someone from YP please explain in more depth.

Stantheman

From my understanding of what I have read on here the chances of winning were only ever on the chances accumulated within the month previous to the draw but our tallies had accumulated points over a period of time that were inactive but still visible to us in the final tally that we could read on our profiles. It was stated in a thread some time ago that this would be adjusted to finally show only the chances that are current on any given day.
I hope this makes sense because if you were losing chances every time you played you should be losing around 450 chances a month which in fact really means that on your record of play ( that you have stated ) you do in fact only have that many chances on any given day anyway.
Anyway that's my understanding but youplay will probably have a better explanation and correct me if I am wrong.

It's very confusing, Wakijaki, but it still doen't explain how my Chances to Win increased gradually but surely over the period of my Premium membership, only to start declining over the last month or so.

In theory, once the system has been cleaned out, if we play the same number of games each day then the tally should not change but if for some reason you don't play for several days then the tally would reduce markedly as old used up chances were deducted and new chances were not forthcomming to keep the tally up.

Thanks Wakijaki, that makes things a lot clearer.

Your theory may be right, Wakijaki, but doesn't apply in my case once again. I doubt if I have missed a day's play since becoming a Premium member. I'll wait to see what YouPlay have to say before determining my options.

Personally, I'd like to have seen a full explanation before the "tweaking" took place. I've recently kept a record of my Chances to Win, and find that they tend to remain fairly stable over a few days. They go up from the beginning of a playing session, but some are removed at the end of the day.

Example: Saturday 4/10 at 1425 hours: 1210 chances
Same day at 2210 hours: 1252
Sunday 5/10 at 1845 hours: 1240 (12 less than last night)
Same day at 2330 hours: 1285
Monday 6/10 at1440 hours: 1246 (39 less than last night)

So overall, I'm earning around 40 chances per playing session, but only gaining 36 in two days. It appears that even though I play every day, my chances from a month ago are being deducted daily. Which makes sense of McTroy's explanation (I think?). But - I preferred to think that my chances were accumulating over time, and that the longer I went without a win (and I've never had one), the better my chances would be. Not so. It appears I misunderstood the system, but with the chances in figures in my profile, how could I think otherwise?

I think we need to understand better how the system is and has been "tweaked", so we can confidently predict our chances, and decide on our playing efforts accordingly. One of the reasons I paid to become a Premium member was the possibility of cash prizes. Like stantheman I'm a pensioner. Enuff said.

Let it be understood that I'm not complaining about the system, only asking for a clear understanding of my chances of winning a prize, and asking for the figures I see to be a true representation of my actual chances.

Cheers, Beauregarde.

I agree with you wholeheartedly, Beauregarde. I've no objection to having an "even playing field" for all players, but I'd like to have firm and fair rules made and understood by all.
I've ceased playing the site thinking that such action might arrest the decline in my winning chances.

Hi everyone,

Sorry I know this is a confusing topic, however, you need not worry as you are ALL still receiving entries based on the normal criteria.

Below is an outline of what entries you receive for each of the three cash prize draws:

Daily $50 Draw
Each completed daily competition game gives you one unique entry (unlimited).

Weekly $100 Draw
Each completed daily competition game gives you one unique entry (max. one entry per game per day).

Monthly $250 Draw
Each completed daily competition game gives you one unique entry (max. one entry per game per day).

Now the reason for the discrepancies showing in the chances to win display is fairly simple. This is a dynamic number, and updates to show data for a specific range (being a month). As such, if you played more games exactly 1 month ago than you did today then tomorrow your chances will show a decline.

It's important to remember that at present, and even the old display didn't represent active chances.

I have ask Dr. Play to work on the display and he assures me he will be able to get a new more accurate system up by the end of the week. This will make it far easier for you all to track your 'Active chances' across all three draws.

Please understand that until then, I cannot really provide any more information that I have... but as I said, you can rest assured as you are all still earning the chances you deserve.

McTroy =)
