Welcome to the next installment in our fascinating YouPlay Member Profile series. Ladies and gentlemen please put your hands together for the one, the only... arcticprincess!

Jessie: Firstly, I hear there’s an interesting story behind your YouPlay User Name…

Arcticprincess: I love, love, love polar bears!  My HUGE collection includes very small figurines, books, clothes, DVDs, toys, and some very large toys - I have a room dedicated to them. In fact there are polar bears in EVERY room! I am also a member of Polar Bears International whose aim it is to bring the polar bear into the public arena.  This organization provides information about the research efforts of scientists who are trying to preserve the bear and its habitats, and also promotes what other people are doing to bring the plight of the bear and global warming to the world.

J: Now for some general background info please!

AP: I live in Melbourne in Victoria, Australia - I came to Melbourne on April 1st 1973.

Other than puzzles, I enjoy an eclectic arrangement of music styles (Il Divo, jazz and classical) and being outdoors.  We have one not-so-young dog.

J: What are your favourite puzzles?

AP: My favourite puzzles are the Cryptics because they cause me to think - and get mad! Plus I like the Cypher Square in the magazines.

I am at a loss as to remember how I found the YouPlay site, but have loved it since. Other than the Cryptic Crossword I like the General Knowledge and the Zodiac Match.  That new puzzle 'Tasty Trivia' drives me crazy because I don't know enough about wines and beers to get the answers right!  It is very frustrating but a lot of fun to try.

J: Does your family share your passion for puzzles?

AP: If you had asked me if my family enjoys puzzles just a few weeks ago I would have said no – but, very recently my daughter has 'been bitten' by the bug.  She left work to raise my new grand-daughter and in a quiet moment found a puzzle in a magazine. She enjoyed it so much I directed her to the best puzzles books.

J: Where do the holidays find you?

AP: Holidays have been spent visiting family interstate and overseas. In more recent times my husband and I have also enjoyed camping. I find this very relaxing away from phones and noise.

J: I hear you! What else makes you happy?

AP: What makes me happy is life because I re-married eighteen months ago.  Also, my kids have achieved a good deal through some tough times and now they have families of their own.  I love visiting friends and chatting on the phone.
What makes me unhappy is the state of the world and its natural disasters and some people's intolerance of those less fortunate.

J: What are you most proud of?
AP: .........that is a tough question! I thought most hard about this one.  I would have to say my new marriage.

J: Finally arcticprincess tell us one interesting fact about yourself!

AP: Hmm, well I was a 'greenie' in my younger days. I attended marches that heightened the public awareness of my home state's forests being hurt by the logging industry.

J: Thanks arcticprincess – what a lovely person you are!

What an awsome idea. A great way for YP staff and gamers to get to know everyone.

Great idea! So nice to actually feel you know a bit about others who share an interest in games, crosswords etc. I feel very comfortable with the Youplay site and would enjoy hearing more about other players.

G'day Arcticprincess. It's lovely to meet the person behind the name that has, for so long, been beating me at games. I love your polar bear collection. Maybe one day, if YP is ever in a position to display photos, you could treat us to a pic of some of them. Hugs & best wishes, GP.

This is such a lovely idea, we all have a common bond....puzzles. I was one of the first to the site when it was first on the computer scene, I also subscribe for the puzzle books, and as I am disabled, find it keeps me occupied as nothing else can. I thank the team for the family feeling, like we are one big best regards to all, baja xo

Not only do puzzles keep you occupied, baja, they also give your brain a daily, thorough workout as few jobs can do. Brillian site, isn't it?

Hello Greenpeas, I would like to show off some of my 'polar family'. It grew over these past few weeks, due to Mothers' Day and my birthday. Hello Baja, I love the books also. I make sure I have a few 'on the go' at one time. If I am sitting for any reason, and not on the computer, I like to be doing them then.
