You find the beach umbrella Dr. Play, and I'll pack a sumptuous summer picnic - it's time to hit the sun, sea and sand!

That lazy, dazy week between Christmas and the New Year is my absolute favourite time to take it easy. Why not join us dear YouPlayers, we've baggsed the perfect spot, the water's perfect and we've plenty of snags for the barbie - and who wants to join in a sandcastle building competition?

Of course when the YouPlay Team goes on vacation, things tend to go a little [ahem] awry. In our case, slip, slop, slap means that sultry MAGMan's slipping into scant n' skimpy Speedos so small they bring a whole new dimension to the term "budgie smugglers". Think about it. Actually, no - don't. And slop? Well, that's our boy McTroy slopping his ice cream in fright after being menaced by a seagull. Again. And it's best we don't discuss Avatar Chris and his predilection for jovially slapping a sleeping Dr. Play about the jowels after stealthily burying him up to his neck in sand. [sigh]

Once the sun goes down the real business of the week gets underway. Pour yourself a drink and switch your mind to puzzles - it's time to get cracking on the Calendar of Events!

The Seven Games of Christmas competition has now closed - we hope you enjoyed our festive series of puzzles and games. The two lucky winners will be announced in this space tomorrow (Wednesday 31st Dec) so keep an eye out. If you completed all seven games you're in with a chance to WIN CASH including our major $1000 prize!

Brush up on your YP knowledge for the YouPlay: A Year in Review quiz begins on the 31st. Who came first in Evil in SCT V? What game did we launch in November? These questions might be in the quiz - so start studying!

Give Us A Clue: This month, Christine Lovatt needs your clues for CRUSADER and BABYSIT. Submit your entries - the best clues WIN a book prize!

Give Christine a Clue!

I have always loved swimming above all else. My family and friends spent the time on the sand, I was in the water.

When I was a kid we lived in the suburbs out west and didn't have a car. Some Christmas school holidays we would go to the beach, but it was a long trek by bus, train and bus again (or ferry if we went to Manly). A very long, hot and tiring day for us kids and for mum and dad, no doubt. We still loved the day out, despite the fact that we were so bushed by the end of the day that if we didn't fall asleep on the bus, we would whilst having our bath. And the sunburn! Coogee was the beach we ended up at the most. We had this outing only two or three times in my childhood, but it surely sticks in the mind and memory as golden.
